We were impressed with the book Debra Olliviers, as I found it boring. I do not know if the other reviews to live, or whether they have traveled! I grew up in Los Angeles, CA, and I do not find the French very different women, or men. Yes there is a culture is a little different, but you will find that in any country you travel in. This means that French women are better then we do! I think not. Yes values are only slightly different. We are all women, and I believe the same in my opinion. I am not a grandmother child. Ollivier speaks French fliting men with women or women fliting with a French guy, but this does not mean that they want to sleep with them. I think the same applies to American women and men. Who does not like to flirt, have fun, but this does not mean that women want to go to bed with that man! Married women flirt all the time, what is the big deal. . For French women are more sophisticated and confident about their selfs! Thus, the American women. I do not think any French women would want to read about the American or women. This would make a good magazine article, but an entire book! It also establishes shared in French, as we all American women can not read or spell in French. I am not impressed. For my taste, I found this book a Bore.

Although I admit that French women have much to teach us to slow down and live a good life, there is evidence of book that really bothered me. First is the focus on the female body and the idea of «bien dans sa peau" or are comfortable in body, and then applies to the way that meanders over a few pounds which doesn't imply that these comfortable college or it is impossible for medical reasons by the French women smoke in large numbers as compared to American women. Not to mention that the mental characteristics and top-notch education is low on the list wants or needs.
Again, nothing about the value of a good education for French women in the book. Nothing about French women who run successful companies because they consider important or anything about why French women are considered as models for others in the business arena. French women may not care if a guy makes a good income, American women have a good education is not willing to settle for someone who is less ambitious and therefore less income from it. Or is their equal.
Also have to disagree with Chapter Six, entitled Art de Vivre and how the French seem to have a view that has money and is proud of its achievements are somewhat uncomfortable.
And remember that Asians are a success and education-oriented as we Americans. Studies show that the French are leaders in high technology, other new ideas century or business in general.
They seem to live in the past. Be sure to work fewer hours, but once Nicolas Sarkozy, was running for president of France has wanted to allow more working week and any news here in the states noted that the women were overjoyed with the opportunity to make more money and thus have greater savings .
At least the author notes on page 91 of the rules during the discussion that the French have rules, but also not excluded when it comes to common courtesy that we have here in the states, as smoking is not about others unless they say OK, or does not limiting their dogs or obeying traffic signs.
They do not like lines, and unlike the Americans do not like waiting their turn. In the end we must realize that America is a very different country with more ethnic, cultural, religious, economic and educational territories that France has ever known. Very little, if anything in the book in France who wish to become better. In the end women are sex objects from selection, food and entertainment is a company dinner.
But think about it. . . . .
Americans have elected a black man as our leader. Why has France been more progressive considering what is an old country? In the end I believe that Americans should take the best from all cultures and make our country even better.
So yes the book is very provocative thought.

I'm not sure why my first review was not implemented so I will be brief. I did not like this book. I thought I talked less than men and that the voice was annoying.

I read the previous book in Debra Ollivier, "Entre Nous," and will fully enjoy. I jumped the chance to review "What French Women Know," as I was sure that the well-known expatriate columniste for "Le Monde", will share most interesting ideas for the French culture. Ollivier did not disappoint. Written for friendship, dating (a concept that the French are not really), cooking and shopping – and how French women look at all these things differently than American women. Ollivier work is humorous and sometimes self-deprecating when he writes about her experiences in navigating the cultural differences between French and "Anglo" (a generic term used by some French folk to describe the British or Americans).
There are many lessons to be taken by the Gallic attitude towards life, and Ollivier shares in an entertaining way. Highly recommended.

frenchwomen is so superior to American women who do not follow any stupid American TV shows: no one in France anatomy gray watches or desperate housewife. . Too busy to go to the opera! since they do not care what people think about them and of course all that impressive, I never go on a diet; if the best selling book on Amazon. Fr right now is a diet book ( «je veux maigrir", i. E "I want to lose weight!") is because the purchase to ship it to grease their American friends! that the book explains how frenchwomen know that life is short. Of course so everyone has a large interest-paying jobs and not go on strike! Also, immediate satisfaction is important to frenchwomen to be great in bed: so never leave their spouse or cheat! american women can actually learn a thing or two in this book!
